Gunnison River Rainbows

Dave with another nice Gunnison River rainbow trout. It was a bit slow fishing at times yesterday, but we got some good fish. (And the trout seemed to like my new Riffle and Rise Outfitters hat.)

Spring Rainbows

Dave caught some really nice rainbows yesterday. This was just one of many. It’s also good to see the small rainbows in the river. They are pretty little fish with their par marks, and they will hopefully be around for several years to come.

New Bamboo Rod

Early Run-off

It was a beautiful day on the East River yesterday, and it was fun to get out with Doug and Lewie. We’re in the early stages of run-off, but the river was still in great shape. For reasons unknown to mere mortals, fishing was much slower than I expected. However,…

Stoneflies

After the midge hatch was done yesterday afternoon, trout started jumping on stonefly nymphs. It was cold, windy, and snowing off and on, but the fishing was pretty good.

Midge Hatch

I hit another great midge hatch yesterday afternoon. This time I brought along an extra rod for dry fly action just in case. I fished my new Orvis Superfine Fiberglass rod and CFO reel to throw a small dry fly the entire time, which lasted nearly three hours. It was…
